Delete Your DBJ Canopy Account
Last updated: September 2026
The app this page covers
DBJ Canopy is the iOS and Android app published by DBJ Technologies LLC. It is the companion app for Canopy, the business system I build and operate, and signing in to it is limited to the people who operate a Canopy install.
You can delete your DBJ Canopy account from inside the app, or ask me to delete it by email without having the app installed. Both routes delete the same data. The demo on the app's first screen creates no account and saves nothing, so if the demo is all you used, there is nothing to delete.
Delete your account in the app
- Open DBJ Canopy and sign in.
- On the Today tab, scroll to the bottom and tap “Settings”, which shows your email address beside it. The gear at the top of the screen opens the same page.
- Scroll down to the “Delete account” card.
- Type DELETE in the box. That turns the button on.
- Tap “Delete my account”, then tap “Delete” to confirm.
The deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. The phone you used returns to the sign-in screen, and any other phone signed in to your account is signed out the next time it connects.
Delete your account without the app
Email me at joshua@dbjtechnologies.com with the subject “Canopy account deletion request” and the email address you sign in to DBJ Canopy with. The link opens an email with the subject already filled in, and you can send it from any address.
I then write to the email address on the account to confirm the request came from you. Once you confirm, I delete the account, which removes exactly what the in-app deletion removes, and I write back to tell you it is done. I answer every request promptly, and always within 30 days.
What is deleted
Every sign-in session tied to your email address, on every device, including sessions you signed out of earlier. Each session holds the sign-in method you used (Google or Apple), the device name, platform and app version the app sent when you signed in, and when the session was created and last used.
Every notification registration tied to your email address: the push token for each device and the notification switches you set for it.
The sign-in tokens held in your phone's secure storage, on the phone you delete from right away and on any other phone the next time it connects.
The Today and Pipeline summaries the app saves on your phone so those screens open without a signal. Your mail, call log and scans are never saved on the phone at all.
What is kept, and for how long
A security log. Canopy keeps a log of account activity so that security questions about an account, such as whether a lost phone was used, have an answer. For DBJ Canopy it records each sign-in, sign-out and change to notifications, and the deletion itself, with your email address, the device details sent at sign-in, a short fragment of the notification token, and the IP address and user agent of the request. Deleting your account does not remove these entries. The IP address and user agent are cleared from each entry after 90 days, and the entries are deleted after 13 months, except those about invoices, quotes, proposals and subscriptions, which are kept seven years for tax records.
Operations monitoring. Each sign-in and the deletion are also noted in Canopy's operations monitoring with your email address. Those entries are removed automatically after 30 days.
Your access to Canopy. Deleting the app account does not remove the access your company gave you to its Canopy install. That access is part of your company's staff list rather than app data, so you can still sign in to Canopy on the web, and signing in to the app again later starts a new account from nothing. If you want that access removed as well, ask your company, or say so in your email to me.
Your company's business records. The contacts, deals, messages and calls you see in the app belong to your company and live in its Canopy install. The app displays them and does not collect them, so deleting your account leaves them in place. They are governed by the agreement I have with your company.
Questions
The full picture of what the app collects is in section 8 of the privacy policy. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know what is held for your account before you delete it, write to me at joshua@dbjtechnologies.com and I will answer you personally.
