Founder
I am Michael Cowell, a CPA and Enrolled Agent serving Dallas-Fort Worth.
Cowell & Co. is a Dallas based CPA practice serving SaaS founders, professional service firms, real estate investors, restaurant operators, and high-earning W-2 individuals with complex tax and advisory needs. Compliance is the foundation of the work. Advisory is where the engagement earns its keep.
I spent the first seven years of my career as a controller for a regional manufacturer in Richardson. I had a front-row seat to a dozen small businesses in that supply chain, and I watched most of them bleed money on tax positions their CPAs never raised. Not because those CPAs were bad at filing returns. Because filing returns was the entire engagement.
In 2017 I went independent and built Cowell & Co. to be the firm I kept wishing those businesses had. The same person who plans your taxes files them, answers your email, and sits across from you twice a year to look at the whole picture. No junior team learning on your account. No account manager relaying questions to someone you never meet.
Fifteen years into this work, the part I am proudest of is boring on purpose: clients who used to dread tax season now treat it as a non-event, because the decisions that matter were already made months earlier. That is the whole idea.
