Accessibility Statement

Template demonstration content. Illustrative, not legal advice.

Stillwater Psychiatric is committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology. A patient looking for psychiatric care should be able to read this site, understand it, and reach the practice, whatever tools they use to get there.

Our Conformance Target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive differences. We treat Level AA as our working standard and review the site against it.

Measures We Have Taken

The following measures support accessibility on this site:

  • Semantic HTML. Pages are built with meaningful, structured markup, including headings in a logical order, landmark regions, and lists, so that screen readers can convey the structure of each page.
  • A skip link. Every page begins with a skip-to-content link so keyboard and screen-reader users can move past the navigation directly to the main content.
  • Keyboard navigation. Links, buttons, form fields, and other interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
  • Visible focus indicators. Interactive elements show a clear focus outline so a keyboard user can always see where they are on the page.
  • Reduced-motion support. The site respects the operating system setting for reduced motion. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the entrance animations and transitions on this site are minimized or removed.
  • Text alternatives. Images that carry meaning include descriptive text, and decorative graphics are marked so assistive technology can skip them.
  • Color and contrast. We aim for text and interface colors that meet Level AA contrast ratios, and we do not rely on color alone to convey information.
  • Responsive layout. The site is designed to remain readable and usable when text is enlarged and across a range of screen sizes.

Known Limitations

We want to be honest about where the site may still fall short. We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:

  • Some interactive elements, such as motion-based illustrations, are primarily visual. Where they convey information, we aim to also provide that information in text, and we are reviewing each one.
  • Content or features provided by outside services may not fully meet our conformance target, because we do not control how those services are built.
  • Documents linked from this site, such as forms, may not yet be fully accessible. If you need a document in a different format, please contact us and we will provide one.

If you encounter a problem that is not listed here, please tell us. Reports from people who use the site are the most reliable way for us to find and fix barriers.

How to Reach the Practice Another Way

If any part of this website is difficult to use, you do not have to use it to become a patient or to ask a question. You can call the front desk directly at (214) 555-0432, and we will help you with anything you would otherwise do on the site.

How to Report a Barrier

If you have trouble using any page or feature of this website, please let us know. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. Including the browser, device, or assistive technology you were using helps us reproduce and fix the problem.
