Twenty-Two Years, One Question.
From Dr. Margaret Calloway, MD · Founder & Medical Director
I built this practice because the first question I learned to ask in residency at UT Southwestern was the question that most psychiatry visits do not leave time for. Not what medication are you on, but what has and has not worked, and why. Every patient who walks into Stillwater Psychiatric gets that question first, in a chair, before any prescription is written or refilled.
I see patients who have already tried one antidepressant. I see patients who have tried six. I see patients whose family members called me because the patient was too tired to make the call themselves. The work is the same in every case. Listen first. Examine the chart, the genetics where it helps, the prior responses. Then choose a path that is honest about what we know, and honest about what we do not.
I am not the only psychiatrist in Dallas. I am the one who will tell you when a medication adjustment is the right next step, when TMS is the right next step, when Spravato is the right next step, and when the right next step is to keep doing what you are doing because it is finally beginning to work. That clarity is the practice.
